The Tuskegee Airmen: Images of Valor is an art contest that is designed to educate Colorado students about the battles Tuskegee Airmen overcame both during World War II and with moving our country towards racial equality. On November 19th, 2011, Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum is honoring the Colorado Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen at our annual Gala event. Young people’s artwork from across the state will be showcased at this event, and will illustrate our appreciation for their tremendous accomplishments.
A panel of judges composed of local artists, art teachers, and museum educators will determine the winners of the contest. Art work will be judged on three criteria: Artistic Merit (25%), Creativity (25%), and Theme Communication (50%).
Please email Jonna Green at JGreen@WingsMuseum.org to receive a packet of flyers and entry forms to share with participating students. Each student will be required to complete an official entry form, signed by a parent or guardian. Please attach the entry form to the back of each student’s artwork. Any piece without this form will not be eligible for the contest. We look forward to your participation and to recognize some of your talented artists. Download the entry form and rules HERE.
