Wings Over the Rockies Awarded Daniels Fund Grant

Grant given to enrich aviation and space related programming

Denver, CO – April 25, 2017 – Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum (Wings) is pleased to announce that the organization has been awarded a $50,000 grant by the Daniels Fund, effective March 2017.

The grant, to be used for aviation and space related programming which prepares youth for careers in the aviation and aerospace industries, will provide the museum with a base of funds which will contribute to the growth and betterment of the museum’s learning center program, Wings Aerospace Academy (WAA).

Wings Aerospace Academy is approaching its third year of enrollment and offers 6th-10th grade students an opportunity to receive hands-on STEM education with a focus on aviation and space. Students have flown in helicopters, met astronauts, built drones, gone on field trips to the Air Force Academy and much more. Core curriculum for WAA is taught through an online portal and students come to the museum once per week for access to the experiential aerospace elements.

“We are honored to have been selected for this grant,” commented Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum President and CEO, John Barry. “These funds will help us build and improve our Wings Aerospace Academy program which significantly contributes to the growth of Colorado’s future aerospace leaders.”
