Wings Over The Rockies® Hosts Artemis II Family Day Celebrating Colorado’s Role In NASA’s Return To The Moon

DENVER, CO (Jan. 28, 2026) — Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum (Wings) will host Artemis II Family Day on February 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., inviting families, students, and space enthusiasts to explore NASA’s upcoming crewed mission around the Moon and the critical role Colorado’s aerospace community plays in making it possible.

Artemis II marks the first time in more than 50 years that humans will travel beyond low‑Earth orbit and go farther in space than any previous crewed mission. The mission will test the systems needed to transport astronauts to the Moon and eventually send crews to Mars. The earliest launch window is scheduled for February 6–11, and the mission will last approximately 10 days as the crew travels around the Moon.

“Colorado is at the center of the Artemis program, from spacecraft design to mission operations, and this event gives families a chance to see that innovation up close,” said Rachel Herman, Chief Experience Officer at Wings Over the Rockies. “Artemis II Family Day at Wings Museum is designed to spark curiosity, celebrate exploration, and inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and explorers.”

Visitors will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn how Artemis II prepares humans for future missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond
  • Explore the people, technology, and ideas shaping the next era of spaceflight
  • Participate in hands‑on science experiments and STEM activities
  • Attend talks with astronauts, including Steve Lindsey and Scott Kelly
  • Meet with leading aerospace companies contributing to Artemis and future spaceflight missions
