No Firearms or Weapons Policy

It is Wings Over the Rockies™ (“WINGS”) policy to restrict the presence of weapons at both locations of the organization – the Air & Space Museum at Lowry and the Exploration of Flight campus at Centennial Airport. This policy applies to all employees and volunteers of WINGS, guests, and vendors.

The following are authorized to carry or possess weapons in the buildings of WINGS:

  • Police Officers/Deputy Sheriffs (Federal, State, County, Municipal) while ON duty, within their jurisdiction.
  • Police Officers/Deputy Sheriffs (Federal, State, County, Municipal) while OFF duty, within their own jurisdiction, and under direction from their agency to carry firearms off duty.
  • Ceremonial use of firearms and weapons for events and programs. Said weapons must be preapproved and must not carry live ammunition.
  • Artifact/Historical Object/Permanent Collection items are allowed for display and collections use only.
  • Licensed Private Security when services are contracted for WINGS or corporate and private events at either location.

No other persons, including sworn officers from outside agencies or jurisdictions, are permitted to bring weapons into the buildings at either location without the specific authorization of:

  • the Chief of Police for the City and County of Denver for Wings Museum;
  • the Chief of Police for the City and County of Arapahoe for EoF at Centennial; or,
  • the CEO / COO or individual as designated by CEO for either location.

Persons possessing concealed weapons permits that do not fall into one of the above-named categories are specifically denied permission to bring weapons into either building.

Persons found to be in possession of weapons in violation of this policy will, at the discretion of the WINGS Leadership Team and/or the Manager on Duty, either be requested to remove all weapons from the building or Denver Police must be contacted to manage the situation.

WINGS will not store weapons or permit them to be stored anywhere in the building at either location. Employees and volunteers in violation of this policy may face disciplinary action.
