“Progress of Flight” Mosaic Mural from Stapleton Airport

“Progress of Flight” Mosaic Mural from Stapleton Airport

This enormous mosaic tile mural graced the terminal of Denver’s Stapleton International Airport from the 1960s until the airport’s closure in 1995. It illustrates the history of flight with eight important aircraft, from the Montgolfier balloon of 1783 to a black supersonic transport. The new 1964 Stapleton Control Tower features prominently on the right.
