Drones: Is the Sky the Limit? Coming to Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum

This high-flying examination of the past, present, and future of remotely controlled pilotless aircraft is set to open Saturday, February 1st

Denver, CO – January 22, 2020 – With drone applications for home use, entertainment, homeland defense, and more, will people continue to make the critical decisions or will computers take over the controls? Find out in Drones: Is the Sky the Limit? the latest traveling exhibition coming to Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum on Saturday, February 1st 2020.

Developed by subject experts from the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, and produced by Imagine Exhibitions, Drones: Is The Sky The Limit? explores the modern phenomenon of drones, their uses throughout history, and the exciting possibilities of the future role that drones will play in our society.

Over the last 75 years, drones have evolved from remote-controlled planes used for target practice into versatile and highly specialized aircraft. As these aircraft fill the skies, they raise concerns about airspace, privacy, and ethics in modern warfare. But these concerns are eclipsed by excitement for their potential: someday drones will explore Mars, serve as pilotless flying taxis, and deliver packages and groceries to our front doors.

Drones: Is The Sky The Limit? features real drones, in-depth label paneling, and rich audio-visual content, a drone racing video interactive, and provides a birds-eye view of the aeronautics, engineering, science, technologies, and innovations of one of the most intriguing topics dominating our current culture.

“Drones are becoming an increasingly important part of our daily life,” explained Wings Over the Rockies President and CEO, Maj Gen John Barry, USAF (Ret). “The exhibit will tell the story of drone technology over time while educating audiences about their importance across dozens of industries. We are thrilled to be bringing this engaging exhibition to the Denver community.”

Tom Zaller of Imagine Exhibitions added, “With drones becoming such a big part of our culture, it’s essential to better understand their evolution and role in contemporary society.”

Drones: Is The Sky The Limit? will be open daily to the public from Saturday, February 1st through Friday, May 8th. The exhibit is included in the price of museum admission. Learn more online at WingsMuseum.org/Drones.
