Colorado Base Museum Hosts Recently Retired Aircraft

Buckley Space Force Base, Colorado recently inherited an AV-8B+ Harrier II aircraft, a model from 1987. According to a Space Force story, the aircraft was one of the first short-launch aircraft used by the U.S. military but is now being phased out in favor of the Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II.

The plane will now be housed in the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum, a museum featured in the first episode of ADC’s Homefront series.

The Greater Buckley Region is one of three areas named to the 2025 class of Great American Defense Communities.
