Wings Over the Rockies® Celebrates Aviation Day with $1.50 Kids’ Admission

DENVER, CO | August 11, 2026 — Families can celebrate the wonder of flight at Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum on Saturday, Aug. 15, during a special National Aviation Day celebration featuring family-friendly activities and $1.50 admission for kids.

From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., visitors can explore the museum, participate in hands-on activities and discover the science and history behind aviation and aerospace. Special activities will include science demonstrations, select open cockpits, pedal planes, a kid’s zone and crafts, with more activities throughout the day.

“National Aviation Day is a chance to spark that sense of wonder that makes aviation so exciting for kids and families,” says Rachel Herman, Chief Experience Officer. “With kids’ admission just $1.50, we’re making it easier for families to experience the museum together and discover something new about flight.”

The celebration also coincides with Colorado’s 150th anniversary, giving visitors an opportunity to explore Determined to Fly: From the Front Range to the Final Frontier, a temporary exhibit celebrating Colorado’s contributions to aerospace exploration.

National Aviation Day is celebrated each year in August to commemorate the birthday of aviation pioneer Orville Wright. Wings Over the Rockies’ celebration gives Colorado families an opportunity to mark the occasion together through historic aircraft and interactive experiences, including a virtual Wright flyer exhibit that allows guests to experience what it was like to make the Wright Brothers’ historic first flight.

The event takes place at Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum, 7711 E. Academy Blvd. in Denver, on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Kids’ tickets are just $1.50 for the celebration. Standard admission applies to adults, and simulator experiences are available at regular pricing.

Families are encouraged to make National Aviation Day a day of discovery and experience the history, science and excitement of flight at Colorado’s Official Air & Space Museum.

Wings Over the Rockies (Wings) is a Colorado-based nonprofit organization and the state’s official Air and Space Museum. Wings is committed to educating, inspiring and exciting all people about aviation and space endeavors of the past, present and future. As one organization with two distinct locations – the historic Lowry neighborhood in Denver, and Centennial Airport in Englewood – Wings offers complementary experiences for visitors.

Established in 1994, Wings’ Lowry campus features more than 97,000 square feet of exhibits, including over 60 aircraft and spacecraft, alongside the stories of people and innovations that shaped flight.

Wings Over the Rockies Centennial campus offers a dynamic, functional aviation experience. Opened in 2018, this location features interactive exhibits, aviation programming, and active aircraft that fly in and out of the airport, giving visitors rare, up-close access to aircraft operations and the runway environment.
