Join us for a presentation at 11:00 a.m. from Gregory Gedney titled First In – Last Out, the Story of a Reborn Bagdad Fury.
This is the untold saga of the Bagdad Hawker “Sea Furies” as narrated through the account of Joesph H. Thibodeau’s rare historic aircraft, “Sea Hawk”. It includes the historical story of the development of the Sea Fury and more specifically, the specialized two-seat trainers that Iraq needed to train its pilots. Sea Hawk plays an important role in that tale and for the first time the story is able to be fully told.
With backgrounds in aviation, engineering and archaeology, Greg brings his talents as a historical researcher to the subject of Bagdad Furies. Greg holds a Commercial pilot’s license and owns and operates a Piper Turbo Arrow III out of Centennial Airport. His six seasons in charge of logistics in the Unlimited pits at the Championship Air Races in Reno for Joe Thibodeau’s P-51 Mustang and Hawker Sea Fury honed his interest in World War II aircraft. His 45-year career as an electrical engineer is evident in the technical nature of his research. Greg has spent over 40 years as a principal archaeological investigator in the Great Basin of Nevada where his research addressed human settlement patterns dating back over 9,000 years.
