A Vietnam Tale: Bob White's Story

Join us for a presentation at 11:00 a.m. featuring an introduction by Wings’ volunteer Cliff Lawson, Vietnam veteran and seasoned aviator, followed by a 40-minute video as Bob White recaps his time in captivity.

Bob White was an army aviator during the Vietnam War. During a mission in his Mohawk, he was shot down and spent 3.5 years as a prisoner of war (POW).

When the peace accords were signed, it was supposed to be 60 days until all POWs were to be released. His captors knew nothing of the agreement and Bob spent an additional week as a POW until his captors, “got the word.” After 1,234 days in captivity, Bob was released on April 1, 1973.
